New York passed a state law last year adding further restricts on the sale and transport of ivory across its state lines. We hope to follow suit in Colorado in 2016 thanks to the efforts of Ivory Free Colorado (www.ivoryfreecolorado.org).
In another demonstration of resolve, over a ton of confiscated ivory was crushed in Times Square this last week. It was crushed in the same manner the first ivory crush happened in 2013 at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal in Denver Colorado. Over six tons of ivory was ground into powder at that event. Such public demonstration of the U.S.’s willingness to end ivory trade in this country and around the world is encouraging to everyone striving to bring attention and an end to ivory trade. Bravo.
