A Tribute to Kenya and a New Chapter for ANAW-USA

ANAW-USA is embarking on an exciting new chapter as it rebrands itself as the Alliance for Human Animal Coexistence. This marks a positive and inspiring time for its board of directors and the dedicated leaders Katherine Baxter and Kahindi Lekalhaile. Eighteen years ago, I had the privilege of incorporating ANAW-USA alongside Josphat Ngonyo. Together, we began a journey rooted in a shared vision to protect animals and promote harmony between people and wildlife.
For nearly two decades, my fundraising efforts have been dedicated to supporting ANAW, and that commitment remains steadfast. I am thrilled to embrace the Alliance for Human Animal Coexistence as a new initiative within my portfolio of cherished humanitarian causes. While ANAW in Africa continues its vital advocacy for animal welfare, the Denver office is evolving, spearheading initiatives to bring additional resources and support to the Kasigau region—a place that holds deep meaning for Kathy and me, as it was the starting point for our work with ANAW.
Although I have stepped away from my roles on both boards, my admiration and support for their work remain unwavering. The efforts being made are not only vital to Kenya but are also a testament to the enduring bonds of friendship and the commitment to making the world a better place for animals and people alike.
The Alliance for Human Animal Coexistence will officially launch on May 15, 2025, and Kathy and I extend our heartfelt wishes for its success. At the same time, we celebrate the foundational work of the Africa Network for Animal Welfare, whose mission continues to inspire and create positive change.
To all those who care deeply about Kenya and its remarkable wildlife, thank you for your dedication and support. Together, you are shaping a brighter future for coexistence and compassion.
