Frequently Asked Questions

What types of clocks do you repair? I specialize in mechanical clock movements, with a particular affinity for grandfather clocks, antique wall or mantel clocks. Frech ceramic clocks, and others. If it has gears and a pendulum, I’m likely happy to take a look!

Do you offer house calls? For large grandfather or tall clocks in the Conifer and nearby areas, I come to your home for setup or movement removal. For smaller clocks, I typically handle repairs in my shop by appointment.

How long does a typical restoration take? Clock repair is a patient art. Depending on the availability of parts and the complexity of the movement, a restoration can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. I will give you a more specific estimate after evaluating the piece.

Do you provide estimates? Yes. I can often give a “ballpark” idea via email if you send photos, but a final firm estimate requires a physical inspection of the movement at my shop.

Do you repair battery-operated (quartz) clocks? Yes, while I focus on gear-driven movements, I am happy to replace simple quartz movements. Generally, this type of clock holds high sentimental value for the owner and it is satisfying to me personally to make them operational again.
